Fight your way through an occult dungeon, while building a deck of cards that seem to have been forgotten in the drier...

Your deck is composed only of decaying cards that were split into three parts. No problem! Re-assemble them however you want to create powerful synergies... Or really bad ones.

Each battle will reward you with a new card to add to your deck. But your foes also grow stronger each time. How far will you get?

How to play :

  • Drag & drop (or right click) card fragments to play them
  • Combine 3 fragments to make a playable card
  • Click "Cast" to play it
  • Defeat the enemy before getting killed!

Tips :

  • Press F to toggle full screen
  • Cards repeat their effect once for each Action 👁️ you use
  • Armor 🛡️ protects you, but only for one turn
  • You can see your enemy's next action above its head

Please continue this game.... its awesome and I really would like an ending or at least different levels of difficulty to beat it at

Show post...

If you're going to develop this further I think it could be a great success! The concept is very nice, now it just needs balancing and more variety. Great job!

I wish there is anal sex though.

Beautiful vibe.

This is a lovely, clever idea for a game that I was delighted to play. My only note is that I would really appreciate a way to turn off the bars/filter over the screen when playing. It makes things look cool but as someone with chronic migraines it's a pretty instant trigger :(

If there is a way to do this lmk so I can play this game way too much!

it's something we will consider for future updates, thanks for the feedback

An incredibly rich and powerful idea in a genre already saturated with different takes. I eagerly look forward to future developments.

Okay, this has the potential to be turned into a full game. Some suggestions:

  1. Windowed Mode. I like to always know what time it is without looking at my phone.
  2. A way to see what fragments you have at any given time. It would make picking cards a lot easier.
  3. Give some meaning to the symbols on the top part? Or maybe make it so that matching same fragments grants bonuses?
  4. More card types. A heal option would be nice.
  5. Maybe some kind of "spell" or "perks" system like in Balatro or Monster Train?
  6. A quit button. It seems small, but Alt-Tabbing out of things isn't very efficient.

I will DEFINITELY be keeping an eye on this game in the future. I really hope you keep improving it!

This is a really cool and unique idea executed very well!

this is such a cool idea and so well done! love the colors and art too

I really love the game mechanic of making your own custom cards. The only problem I got is when I try to get 2 Actions (eye symbol) at the cost of 1 Action when I have 1 Action left. The card consumed the 1 Action then started the next turn without giving me the 2 Actions. It was a waste of a turn. But other than that, I can see potential in this mechanic and hope to see it expanded. Like, what is tearing the cards into pieces? What if there are different kind of enemies that needs new patterns and combinations? I'd love to see that.

just started, got the add energy thing, and saw that it can go over three unlike six card hand limit. I don't feel like rerolling for god run but I think the way to do it would be to replace swords then shields with that stuff, then do stuff like [spend all mana]*3 energize, waste useless 1*1 shield, 3*2 card draw, ... loop without ever winning just to see if u can get super big numbers. I haven't played much but judging by screenshots on this page, seems u can also have effect strengthened by how many shields u have, which seems amazing as shields don't get spent until your turn is over

woah, multiply by shield is OP so I should've saved big spend for after. new setup. after initial spend3, energy ends up getting tripled. now get 9 shields, and with the remaining 6 energy, can get 6*9 at which point u can just go for the kill. 2*3 shields then 1*6(shields) card draw isn't all that good cuz the free draw at start of next turn is wasted

Really cool concept and fun to play. I agree with some other people that tweaking the scaling might be a good idea in the future since taking damage is inevitable at the higher levels.

(+1)

great concept for a card game, tried it out and reached the 8th floor. it would be nice if you could pick up the "whole" card quickly since sometimes the pieces don't matter. its not clear when you get an upgrade or a new card (insert slay the spire map lol) and you cant back from a bad upgrade so you have to choose your literal weakest card or gamble (doesnt look intentional). overall looks and plays great.

(+1)

i love the QoL features of this update, but in my opinion, the non-regenerating health makes you way too reliant on shielding, especially with no way to regain health. i think a card effect that heals you or skipping out on getting a new card at the end of a floor to get more health/max health would hel. maybe playing a fully holo card could heal you? idk

(+1)

Having some heal with cards or to select/buy them in reward screens/shop is something we will probably iterate on for future updates.

(+2)

J'adore le gameplay, et visuellement trop cool aussi. Hâte de voir Day of the Shell!!

What do the holo cards do??

they don't do anything at the moment, I just used the 20 last minutes of the jam to add them because I think it's fun to sometimes open foil cards, it felt right.

In the future it could have some hidden uses, who knows?

(+1)

Dope concept!

(+1)

Very cool concept :O

Oooh, update! What changed?

(+1)

We posted a devlog explaining the changes.
Mostly bug fixes and quality of life updates, but also a new reward screen and a better enemy scaling

(+1)

Can you please mark the *zip file a windows download so that I can install through the itch.io app?

Interesting concept, still a lot to do to get an actual game.

There is no way to quit except kill the process for instance, turns are not well displayed and it would need quite some work on design to make it really catchy.

(+1)

this is one of those jam games where i really hope the full version happens, props to the devs

(+1)

This game has a really interesting mechanic, I see this as a game with an endless mode, just need to balance things out. Well done!

(+1)

I'd like to point out a bug also, I played 2 actions for 1 dmg, 1 action for 1 dmg, and then spent all my actions to gain shields and it went infinite with that

What's with the different card paper colors? Grey vs. Yellowed?

And there's a limit of 6 cards in hand and 3 Actions. Okay. And card draws can be wasted. mmm

Why does enemies shielding seem to give them 1 Heart?

Whelp, I'm done. 12 damage incoming vs. me with four 1 Action Cards that can only give me 1 or 2 damage or actions.

(+1)

"grey" cards are foils. They don't change anything, it's just rare.

We will try to fix the game based on some of the feedbacks. Just understand that it was a game made in 48h so it has some rough edges :)

Yep! Was fun to see how far I could get! Good game!

amazing game, played this for hours

GOD DEAMN this game is a really good card game I really like it

Steam release?

(1 edit)

Woo! Piecing together cards, sorta like piecing together skills like in https://sawyer-friend.itch.io/ratd

This is Windows only, right? Note that in your downloads? I might still try to run this with Steam Proton later.

And it don't work on Experimental Proton, okay.

(+1)

I had a really fun time playing this with the mechanic of putting together cards. Would absolutely love to see this develop into a full game with more cards and more enemy variations

(+2)

I love the concept very nice game!! ,i dont know if the bug is report but if you have zero "mana" and you use card it consume all mana , the attack turn in loop and never end

Hi, the game looks nice, but it's windows only right?
Maybe could you create an Linux and Mac version too?
(Also would help to have the icon for the version on the download if you could enable it)

Incredible work with an interesting concept! Reminds me of Inscryption.

I do have a suggestion though, What if the enemy too had to play cards in order to do any actions just like the player and we can see what the will be playing. I personally think it will make the game more strategic, and need more tactical mindset. Nevertheless, Nice work!

(+1)

There is also this one minor visual bug, there's a layering issue, the numbers and icons of the cards shows upon the card that is placed over it. There needs a layer sorting that hides the number of the card behind the card that is placed above it.

(+1)

turns seem to be working weirdly. my turn is ending when i'm pretty sure i still have actions left.

(+1)

i'm playing the bugfixed version but the spend all your actions card is still bugged and i'm trapped in an infinite loop

Mint :)

(+1)

A cool idea that I enjoyed playing for a bit. My only issue is that you can only have a max of 6 full cards and when I need to draw I would feel that id want to draw a lot but this limit is restricting I cant fit in my hand.

Idea: If I can only have access to 6 cards max I feel like if I draw more than extra they be put aside still flipped over but ill get them once my hand space isn't full

(+3)

Very cool and interesting mechanics, my only complaint is about the game scaling WAY faster than the player. Expect that, the game looks and plays very well, excellent idea :)

(+2)

Enemy has 9 armor, 8 hp and he is gonna kick me in nuts with 12 damage, so what can I do ? Assemble my best cards in the ultimate combo with 1 action for 2 armor and get rekt.
Cool design and idea btw

very fun game, im noticing once you get to the later enemies you cant really scale up against them, and if you only have one card in your hand that doesnt use up all your actions it softlocks your game

(+1)

i JUST realized the end turn button is cut off on my screen and thats why i couldnt progress

Nice!!

(+1)

Cool game. But I think it can have shortcut keys so that I won’t need to drag every single one of them.

Mechanics with lots of potential. However needed more elements to encourage player to create new card, to encourage synergy.
