the random apple generation does not use a mixed bag system for the columns any more, because i realized you can just drop only i pieces for free t*tris/all clears. however each column still has an equal chance of being chosen.
uploaded an update to snaketrible with the following fixes :
the random generation of “apples” has been improved. they will now spawn equally on each column with a mixed bag system, including in the middle.
locking a piece with any block above the board will now trigger a game over (for more clarity on how to lose in this specific game mode)
losing your piece ten times in a row, by colliding with another one or the side of the board, will now trigger a game over (in order to solve soft locks)
yeah i know there are tons of glitches in this one. i’m not sure how to solve this, maybe just trigger a game over if you lose your piece n times in a row
Rather than a game over, maybe move the food if you lose your piece a bunch of times. It's not a perfect fix, but it keeps you from being softlocked at least.
only if there is a valid spot for food onscreen! there are too many cases i can’t really predict right now so i think i’ll keep it to 10 deaths = defeat.
i feel like the game never spawns an "apple" in the middle columns unless it absolutely has to. this gets annoying at times. time to switch up my strategy...

protip : if you click “classic” on the top left hand side, you can switch between different timer modes, including “endless” with no timer, and “zero grav”, with no gravity. i only take high scores in classic mode tho!

Very fun, too bad there's a bunch of annoying bugs. I encountered a bunch of ghost tiles/dead pixels that actually didn't have any collision. And I also had some lines that didn't clear (I assume it was caused by a ghost tile being present in the line). Would love to see a fixed version
41 lines on Life Tetrible! This is a pretty funny one, attempting to slip pieces down towards the bottom once the top was all jumbled and whatnot. ;u;
I admit that this feels a bit scuffed since there were moments where some tiles were visible, but the pieces could pass through them and said tiles were part of lines, causing them to not clear, but yeahhhh.

just tried this version and definitely noticed that, there seem to be quite a few cases where cells don't get cleared out properly, making it quite difficult to see what's solid and what isn't certainly do like the idea of this though, so would be nice if that problem got fixed c:
i think they're talking about when you take a L/I/J piece to max height, hold it, then take it out of hold. pretty sure it doesn't have to do with the previous reason

If you build a vertical wall, it's possible for the "food" to spawn on the other side, softlocking you forever.

i might have just been unlucky, but it still seems to be the case, just less so. anyways, heres my pb as of rn

this game is getting more and more like puyo puyo every day... starting it off with 44 lines
almost completely forgot to check in this week, and this sure was a tough one to play, rotations get really fast once you go past 100 lines
still managed to squeeze out a score of 138 tho

terrible idea: "auto rotate tetrible"
self explanatory. rules:
1. you can't rotate
2. the game rotates for you every so often
from a coding pov, this idea should be fairly easy to implement. if you want, rotating could become more frequent as the gravity increases.

it certainly works a lot better now, the only thing that bugs out a little now is pieces sticking out of the top when a line gets cleared

I second this, the idea is great and I enjoyed it but the consistent ghost tiles and missed lines are a bit annoying

i’m still having trouble catching this bug, so if you ever find a way to repro it consistently let me know, that would help huuugely.
right now for every fix i try i need to play the game for 5-10 minutes and hope the bug happens… not very convenient haha
